A Weekly List of Links and Resources Especially for Pastors

There are quite a few links and resources I picked up over the last week. Enjoy browsing through them. I hope some of them are useful to you.

Ligonier Ministries (R.C. Sproul) has fifty resources for sale at 50% off their regular price. Items available include video, audio, and written material. There’s some great stuff here!

If you haven’t encountered those who are confused about their gender, you will. It’s especially difficult when a child is involved. Tim Geiger posted a very helpful article. Definitely something to read and keep in that Evernote file.

The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals is offering a free audio series on Discipleship for you to download right here.

When I first began in ministry the average tenure of a youth pastor was less than 3 years. Syler Thomas writes a great article on sustaining a long-term youth ministry in the same church.

From 9Marks comes an article that you might find a bit controversial, depending on your background. But there’s something to learn here.

Here is a 13 minute talk by John Piper on personal productivity.

Five Words To Avoid in Sermons. A must read! And they are not “Will you please pay attention!”

What’s the difference between preaching and leading a Bible Study? Tim Challies writes a solid article here.

Next week I’m going to write about liturgy. We all have our own liturgy, our own way of doing church. Here’s a solid piece (audio) on the value of the use of confessions in our worship.

How being alone and being in community go together as followers of Christ.

Here’s the Legend of the Lone Pastor.

B.B. Warfield was a brilliant biblical scholar and a man of great courage. Here’s an article telling us why he’s relevant to pastors today.

What guides your church leaders as you budget? This article recommends a resource that your finance people (and you) should read.

This is a fantastic idea and may accomplish more than the typical Sunday School class. Tim Keller suggests having a Q&A after the sermon. Maybe something to do as an alternative to SS during the summer.

That’s all for this week! See you Wednesday!

Married to Laura, with three adult children, 7 grandchildren. I’m an avid baseball fan, and I enjoy listening to audiobooks about military history, and reading Theology. I was ordained a Baptist pastor and served two churches over a 41 year period. After a three year hiatus I'm glad to be serving at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg, PA. And I’m glad you stopped by!
